The Green Bay Packers and Sargento are continuing their partnership to address food insecurity in Wisconsin with the 23rd season of the Touchdowns for Hunger program. Under this initiative, Sargento will donate $2,000 for every touchdown scored by the Packers during the regular NFL season.
"As a family-owned company, we understand the importance of giving back to our community," said Sargento Chairman and CEO Louie Gentine. "'Touchdowns for Hunger' is our way to raise awareness of food insecurity in our home state while at the same time, raising funds for two great non-profit organizations and rooting for our home team."
Donations from each touchdown will be split between Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee and Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay. In the previous season, the Packers recorded 53 touchdowns across both regular season and postseason games, leading to a total contribution of $106,000.
Since its start in 2003, Touchdowns for Hunger has generated more than $1.9 million to fight hunger in Wisconsin. The program has helped provide over one million meals to families facing food insecurity.
Sargento is a family-owned cheese producer based in Plymouth, Wisconsin. The company employs over 2,400 people and reports $1.7 billion in net sales annually. Founded in 1953, Sargento was among the first companies to offer pre-packaged sliced and shredded natural cheeses and continues operations within Wisconsin.
Hunger Task Force serves as Milwaukee's local food bank with a focus on providing healthy food free of charge while also advocating for public policies supporting nutrition programs at various government levels.
Paul's Pantry operates as a community-supported grocery store offering free groceries to families in need throughout Brown County. Over its four decades of operation, Paul's Pantry has distributed more than 142 million pounds of food without receiving government funding.
