Brown County continues to encourage vaccinations after CDC data reveals that the area is a high area of COVID-19 transmission.
Vaccination levels in Brown County vary widely from neighborhood to neighborhood with some being over 70% vaccinated and others having only one in three residents with at least one shot, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported.
The county-wide vaccination level has just over 54% of residents with at least one dose of the vaccine.
One study showed that 31% of the adult population were more likely to receive the COVID-19 vaccine after it receives FDA approval. With the FDA's recent announcement that they approved the Pfizer vaccine, many health experts and lawmakers remain hopeful that the percentage of those who are vaccinated will increase.
"Full approval," Mayor Eric Genrich (D-Green Bay) said in an Aug. 23 tweet. "If you've been waiting, here it is. Talk to your primary care provider if you still have questions, but make that plan to get a shot today."
Local health centers have continued to create pop-up clinics and mobile vaccination centers despite decreasing administration of doses since April, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported.
“Now it's more of a micro effort," Paprocki said, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported. "So if we can get 25 people, even 10, five, two people vaccinated a day or educate them or provide resources, we're considering that a win.”
