Dozens of people joined together at the Hearthstone Historic House Museum on Aug. 28 to celebrate the completion of several projects that included much-needed improvements to preserve this piece of Appleton's history for years to come.

State Rep. Lee Snodgrass (D-Appleton) attended the Renovation Celebration and shared a few pictures on her Twitter page.

"Happy to join @HistoricMuseum volunteers, donors and others tonight at the for their "Renovation Celebration" tonight marking the end to their three year, $300,000 updates to this important historic landmark," Snodgrass wrote in an Aug. 28 tweet

The celebration was hosted at the Hearthstone Historic House Museum, which has Queen Anne style residential architecture and was the first home to have Edison Electric incandescent lighting, according to a list of Fall events shared by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The museum's website stated that the Hearthstone House continues to be a pinnacle of history in Appleton as a pivotal site in engineering and electric lighting, a monument to architecture, and a host to great interior design and art.

The recent renovations and preservations took about three years to finish and included improvements to the roof that mirrored the original design but will help better preserve the house for the future, according to the museum's website.
