After a tough loss in Week 1 at the hands of the New Orleans Saints, the Green Bay Packers have bounced back in a big way with their 35-17 trouncing of division rivals, the Detroit Lions.
The Packers looked the part of a championship contender, partially assuaging any fears that fans might have had about a down season following the offseason controversy surrounding quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his future with the organization.
The victory against the Lions represented the first home game of the season at historic Lambeau Field and puts the Packers immediately back into the contest for leader of the division. Star running back Aaron Jones broke out in a big way, scoring four touchdowns after a lackluster Week 1 performance. On the back of Jones, the Packers scored 21 unanswered points in the second half after coming out somewhat flat in the first half.
For Jones, the victory wasn't without a brief moment of panic. During one of his touchdown plays, the running back lost a necklace containing his late father's ashes. Luckily, the necklace was found a few hours after the game as ground crew workers scoured the field in search of the necklace.
The Packers will look to replicate their success Sunday night against the 49ers, which figures to be a close contest between two division contenders.
