Retired priest Fr. Ray Suriani spent a great deal of time battling prostate cancer, and when he completed his treatment of the illness, he celebrated in a way that would put a smile on any diehard Cheesehead’s face.

Suriani, who serves as the pastor emeritus of St. Pius X Parish in Westerly, Rhode Island, was gifted tickets to see his beloved Green Bay Packers take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lambeau Field on Oct. 3, The Compass reported.

St. Pius’s Fr. Michael Najim, a self-professed New England Patriots fan, tweeted that the tickets were a surprise gift to Suriani.

“He left today. Hope he has a wonderful and memorable weekend. He’s a great priest!” Najim shared on Sept. 30.

For a “happy” Suriani, to get the opportunity to watch his favorite team in person as a reward for facing head-on is more than just icing on the cake.

“I always wanted to do this,” the priest, who also suffers from Parkinson’s disease, said. “I’m really happy. It’s nice to be loved and appreciated. These people are really near and dear to me.”

Suriani told Fox 11 that he’s “been a Packer kid since I was a kid."

The trip to Titletown was worth it since Suriani’s Packers defeated Pittsburgh 27-17.
