Greater Green Bay Chamber issued the following announcement on Nov. 17

Current Young Professionals, a program of the Greater Green Bay Chamber, announced Iridian Moon as the 2021 fall Support Of Urban Projects (SOUP) micro-grant recipient on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021.

The fall 2021 recipient proposal was presented by Jesse Villwock at the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley with more than 100 community members present. The dinner raised over $2,000 for the micro-grant through the generosity of community residents, Alive N’ Kickin’ Pizza Crust and the Volunteer Center of Brown County. Attendees were excited by the impact the event makes in the Greater Green Bay community.

Iridian Moon is a free drop-in resource center held Monday nights at The Artemystic in Downtown Green Bay; the center provides a safe space for LGBTQ+ high school teens in the Greater Green Bay area. Along with being a safe area to connect with others, the center educates teens on healthy relationships, STI prevention, consent issues, self-advocacy and building confidence. The funding from the micro-grant will go to continuing to provide refreshments and resources for the teens, including menstrual care products, literature, movie nights and craft supplies.

Soup at the dinner was provided by Bay Family Restaurant, Biebel’s Catering & Rental, The Booyah Shed, the Marq Restaurant, Banquet & Catering and White Dog Green Bay; bread was provided by Great Harvest Bread Company.

The next SOUP dinner will be in May 2022 as a part of CurrentWeek.
