Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) has expressed his concerns over the findings of a House Energy and Commerce Committee investigation, which revealed that a Chinese researcher uploaded the COVID-19 gene sequence to a U.S. government database in December 2019, nearly two weeks before the Chinese government shared the same information with the rest of the world. Gallagher believes that this is another instance of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) cover-up regarding the virus.

In a statement, Gallagher commended the committee's work, stating, "Thanks to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, we now know that a Chinese researcher uploaded the COVID-19 gene sequence to a U.S. government database in December 2019 – nearly two weeks before the Chinese government officially shared these details with the rest of the world." He highlighted the CCP's obsession with its own image, which led to the concealment of crucial information about the virus and the delay in sharing information that could have aided the global fight against the pandemic.

Gallagher also raised concerns about the Biden administration's approach to the pandemic. He accused the administration of slow-walking the release of information, stating, "The Biden administration has repeatedly provided minimal clarity on why several intelligence agencies came to different conclusions on COVID's origins." He further criticized the administration for issuing a report in 2023 that obscured more than it illuminated, despite Congress unanimously passing a law requiring the declassification of intelligence on the origins of the pandemic.

Furthermore, Gallagher expressed his disappointment with the administration's lack of interest in understanding the basic facts of how the pandemic originated. He emphasized the need for Congress to continue applying pressure on the administration until a comprehensive understanding of the origins of COVID-19 is achieved. Gallagher stated, "Their lack of interest in understanding the basic facts of how this pandemic originated is astounding and underscores the need for Congress to continue to apply constant pressure on the administration until we fully understand how COVID began."

The revelations from the House Energy and Commerce Committee investigation shed light on the CCP's actions regarding the COVID-19 gene sequence. Gallagher's statement highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in addressing the origins of the pandemic. It also raises questions about the Biden administration's willingness to cooperate with Congress in the early stages of the pandemic.
