Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) has expressed concerns about the ongoing issues with mail delivery in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. In a letter to Postmaster General DeJoy, Rep. Gallagher outlined numerous reports of inconsistent mail service dating back to November and requested a plan of action to restore timely mail delivery in the area.

"My constituents in Northeast Wisconsin, especially in rural communities, rely on the United States Postal Service (USPS) to receive their medications, pay their bills, and run their small businesses," wrote Rep. Gallagher in his letter. He added, "Those who sacrificed so much for the country should never have to worry about receiving packages that their lives may depend on. They should be able to count on consistent and reliable delivery service that the USPS normally provides."

The congressman also commended the postal workers and mail carriers for their hard work and dedication. However, he noted that due to staffing shortages, these workers are being stretched thin and asked to fill in the gaps, leading to delays in mail delivery.

To address these concerns and ensure that the delays are resolved, Rep. Gallagher has requested answers to several questions in his letter to the Postmaster General. He wants to know what specific actions are being taken at the Sturgeon Bay Post Office branch to resume normal delivery in a timely manner and avoid future delays. He also inquired about the plans USPS has in place to address staffing needs in rural communities and whether there is a prioritization of third-party packages over traditional mail.

Rep. Gallagher hopes that his letter will prompt a timely response from the Postmaster General and that the USPS will work diligently to decrease delays in mail delivery. He wants the people of Sturgeon Bay and Wisconsin to have the peace of mind that comes with consistent USPS service.
