Gallagher Announces Xavier HS Student as Winner of 2024 Congressional Art Competition

Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) announced that Elizabeth Munao from Xavier High School was selected as this year's winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for her piece of art titled, "Remembering Dad." Rep. Gallagher made the announcement during a reception with students, parents, and teachers at the Neville Public Museum which celebrated the creativity and talent of all this year's submissions.

The competition, which is held annually each spring, allows high school students to showcase their artistic talent across each congressional district. This year, 43 pieces of art from 9 different high schools were submitted.

Among the winners were Kaitlyn Malson from Kimberly High School, who won second place with her piece titled "Unamused Relative," and Tessa Alison DeMeuse from Preble High School, who secured third place with her artwork "Lady Justice."

Honorable mentions included Bailey Wachter from Kimberly High School with "I’m only Me When I’m with You," Alexis Process from Freedom High School with "An August Evening," and Jordan Steffens from Kimberly High School with "Seaside Serenity."

The winning entry, "Remembering Dad" by Elizabeth Munao, will be displayed for one year in the Cannon Tunnel of the Capitol complex in Washington, DC.

The art pieces will be on display at the Neville Public Museum through May 12, 2024, offering the public a chance to appreciate the creativity and talent of these young artists.
