The Green Bay Police Department (GBPD) is collaborating with Bergstrom Hyundai of Green Bay and Dorsch Kia to host a second clinic aimed at preventing thefts of certain Hyundai and Kia vehicles. The event will provide owners with a free mobile anti-theft software upgrade.

Scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the clinic will take place at The Automobile Gallery & Event Center, located at 400 S. Adams Street. Pre-registration is required to verify eligibility and ensure efficiency on-site.

Mobile service technicians from each dealership will be available to install the anti-theft software upgrade, which takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Participants will also receive a window sticker for their vehicle.

GBPD staff will be present to provide eligible vehicles with a free steering wheel lock, funded by the Brown County Crime Prevention Grant Funding Board. Proof of Brown County residency is required to receive a lock.

Additionally, Bergstrom Hyundai and Dorsch Kia are offering one free pass to The Automobile Gallery & Event Center per serviced vehicle as an incentive. These passes are limited to the first 20 pre-registered Hyundais and the first 20 pre-registered Kias and will be distributed on the day of service.

Interested individuals should pre-register online by May 31, 2024, at https://gb.readyop.com/fs/4dEZ/cb5f4dbe/AntiTheftSoftware or contact Melanie Skalmoski at (920) 448-3260 or melanie.skalmoski@greenbaywi.gov, or Natalia Sidon at (920) 448-3330 or natalia.sidon@greenbaywi.gov. If all appointments are booked, a waitlist will be created.

Registrants are asked to commit to attending their appointment or cancel by May 31, 2024, at noon if necessary. The vehicle identification number (VIN) should be ready when making an appointment.

The anti-theft software upgrade is intended for vehicles with turn-key-to-start ignitions from specific Hyundai and Kia models and years listed in the announcement. Owners should check their VIN with Hyundai or Kia before booking an appointment through provided links.

For those unable to attend this event, local Hyundai or Kia dealerships can offer assistance.

In 2024, GBPD has investigated thefts or attempted thefts of 102 vehicles so far; in 2023, this number was 297 across all makes and models.

Anyone with information related to auto thefts can contact GBPD at (920) 448-3200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (920) 432-STOP (7867). Tips can also be submitted online at www.432stop.com or via the "P3 Tips" app.

The GBPD acknowledges The Automobile Gallery & Event Center for donating space for this event.
