The Office of Mayor Eric Genrich has announced the existence of outstanding invoices related to public safety costs incurred by the City of Green Bay during past and current presidential campaigns. These include expenses from the 2016 campaigns as well as the ongoing 2024 campaigns of Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

"We are honored to host visits from presidential candidates and appreciate the significance these events hold for our community," said Mayor Eric Genrich. "At the same time, there are very real costs associated with the public safety resources these events require, and it is crucial that the financial responsibilities associated with these services are borne by the campaigns, not our taxpayers."

The City of Green Bay has faced substantial costs to ensure safety and security during these high-profile campaign visits.

"Green Bay residents are frugal people who pay their bills, and they expect presidential candidates to do the same," Mayor Genrich emphasized. "It is a matter of fairness and fiscal responsibility — our residents should not bear the burden of these expenses."

In line with its commitment to transparency, Green Bay will continue to make information regarding public safety costs associated with presidential campaign visits publicly available throughout the remainder of the 2024 presidential campaign season. The city will also advocate for timely payments from all campaign organizations.
