The Green Bay Packers have made changes to their practice squad, adding linebacker Michael Barrett and guard Marquis Hayes. The team also announced the release of wide receiver Malik Knowles from the practice squad. These transactions were confirmed by General Manager Brian Gutekunst on Saturday.
Michael Barrett, a rookie from the University of Michigan, joins the Packers after being selected in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. He was later traded to the Seattle Seahawks and has been part of both the Seahawks' and Cleveland Browns' practice squads this season. During his college career with the Wolverines, Barrett appeared in 62 games, starting 35 times and earning third-team All-Big Ten honors in his last two seasons. He will be wearing No. 54 for Green Bay.
Marquis Hayes is a second-year player out of Oklahoma who was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2022's seventh round. After spending his rookie year on injured reserve, he was part of the Cardinals' practice squad both last year and at the start of this season before joining Washington Commanders' practice squad earlier this year. At Oklahoma, Hayes played in 40 games and started his final 37 contests, achieving second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2021. He will wear No. 78 for Green Bay.
