City of Green Bay Office of the Mayor Eric Genrich has announced the launch of a citywide data strategy, Connect Green Bay, aimed at enhancing citizen engagement and government services. The announcement was made in a press release on February 6.

Connect Green Bay is an initiative developed through Green Bay’s participation in the Bloomberg Philanthropies City Data Alliance, a network of 65 cities focused on using data to enhance governance. According to the press release, the strategy aims to improve city services and foster stronger communication between the government and residents. It introduces public dashboards and scheduled reports that provide real-time insights into city operations, ensuring greater transparency, accountability, and public engagement in municipal decision-making.

Key components of Connect Green Bay include the formation of a Data Governance Committee in February 2025 to oversee data management policies. The development of three-year strategic priorities shaped by resident feedback and a workforce assessment to enhance data literacy among city employees are also part of this initiative. Additionally, an external stakeholder feedback strategy will collect community input, while a real-time online hub will provide updates on city initiatives.

"We’re pleased to unveil a data roadmap for the City and our residents," said Genrich. "This plan sets the City on a journey for our community that is better connected to the City’s strategic goals and whose progress is more clearly defined by data-informed successes."

Genrich has served as the mayor of Green Bay since 2019, following three terms representing the 90th Assembly District in the Wisconsin State Assembly. A native of Green Bay, he earned degrees from UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee and previously worked in state and federal government as well as an IT librarian. His office is located at Green Bay City Hall, where he holds weekly open office hours. Requests for appearances, proclamations, or community support funds can be submitted through designated forms, with media inquiries handled separately according to the city of Green Bay.
