Bellin Health's Surgery & Specialty Center has been awarded the Touchstone Platinum Award, which acknowledges evidence-based design processes in healthcare facilities. This recognition highlights achievements in collaboration, evaluation, and sharing.
Jen Macdonald, Vice President of Specialty Service Lines at Emplify Health by Bellin, expressed pride in the accomplishment: “It’s a great honor to have our Surgery & Specialty Center recognized for all the great work that went into designing and constructing this facility.” She emphasized the collaborative efforts involved in creating an environment that enhances patient care.
The award's Platinum level is reserved for projects demonstrating significant impact through evidence-based design. Andrew Zimmer, vice president and principal with HGA, praised Emplify's dedication: “From the start, we recognized Emplify’s commitment to making this a special project.” He explained how mixed-method research was used to improve workflows and enhance experiences for patients and staff.
HGA collaborated with over 100 interdisciplinary team members during the design process to gather comprehensive information. Macdonald noted that the center provides space for various services under one roof while fostering collaboration among healthcare teams. “Receiving this award recognizes not only the work done but also all the great work that will come from it,” she added.
Representatives from Bellin Health and HGA accepted the award on March 11 at the PDC Summit in Atlanta. Further details about the Touchstone Awards can be found at The Center for Health Design.
