The city of Green Bay has announced that the Department of Public Works will commence its spring curbside collection of loose leaves, garden waste, and grass clippings on Monday, April 14, following a scheduled pickup plan. This announcement was made in a press release on March 18.

According to the city of Green Bay Department of Public Works, the spring curbside yard waste collection will begin on April 14, 2025. There will be a temporary suspension from April 21-25 due to NFL Draft activities, with normal collection resuming from April 28 to May 16. Residents are required to separate leaves and grass from brush and branches, as bagged waste will not be collected. All yard waste must be placed at the curb by May 12 for final pickup.

After May 12, residents will need to dispose of their own yard waste or potentially face collection fees. Placing waste in the street is a violation of city ordinances and could result in fines. Improper disposal can block drainage, contribute to water pollution, and create safety hazards. Residents are urged to keep waste away from storm drains, trees, poles, mailboxes, and other obstructions to prevent delays or damage during collection. Public Works staff will monitor for violations.

The city's Yard Waste Drop-Off Centers are located at 2530 East Shore Drive and 1470 Hurlbut Street. These centers are open daily from April 1 through Thanksgiving from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., where residents can dispose of loose leaves, grass clippings, and garden waste. However, contractor-generated yard debris will not be accepted at either the curb or drop-off sites.

The city of Green Bay Public Works Department is responsible for various services aimed at maintaining the city's infrastructure and environment. This includes garbage collection, mandatory recycling, and yard waste management. The department also handles street maintenance, stormwater management, parking services, manages the city's sanitary sewer system, and ensures safe sidewalks. The Engineering Division designs and supervises public works projects while the Stormwater Utility focuses on improving water quality and managing runoff.
