The city of Green Bay has announced the return of City Hall Academy for 2025, a program designed to provide residents and business owners with an inside look at municipal government operations. The announcement was made in a press release on April 8, 2025.
According to the press release, the City Hall Academy is an eight-week evening program beginning May 1, 2025. It offers community members insight into Green Bay’s municipal operations through presentations, tours, and activities that highlight departments such as public safety, community development, and public works. To complete the program, participants must attend at least six sessions and one city council or committee meeting. Registration is free but required, with priority given to newcomers.
"The City Hall Academy is a vital program that strengthens the bond between our residents and their local government," said Mayor Eric Genrich. "By providing an inside look at the workings of City Hall, we empower residents to become more informed and engaged citizens, fostering a stronger, more collaborative community. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this incredible opportunity."
Additional sessions include topics such as the water utility on May 15, the clerk’s office on May 22, community and economic development and transit on May 29, parks, recreation and forestry on June 5, public works on June 12, public safety on June 19, with graduation scheduled for June 26.
Genrich has served as mayor since 2019 after three terms representing the 90th Assembly District in the Wisconsin State Assembly. A native of Green Bay, he holds degrees from UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee and has experience working in state and federal government as well as serving as an IT librarian. His office is located at Green Bay City Hall where he maintains weekly open office hours. Requests for appearances or proclamations can be submitted through designated forms while media inquiries are handled separately.
