Mayor Genrich has expressed his condolences on the passing of Tom Hinz, a prominent figure in Green Bay and Brown County. Hinz held various leadership roles including assistant police chief for the Green Bay Police Department, Brown County Sheriff, and Brown County Executive.

Mayor Genrich stated, “I join the residents of Green Bay and Brown County in mourning the passing of Tom Hinz. He was an assistant police chief for the Green Bay Police Department, a Brown County Sheriff, and a Brown County Executive, but more important than those titles alone suggest, Tom was a decent, honest, and humble man.”

Hinz was known for prioritizing community interests throughout his career and personal life. Mayor Genrich highlighted this by saying that Hinz never stopped learning about people and ideas and often shared new perspectives with others.

“In his leadership roles and as a private citizen,” Mayor Genrich continued, “he had the interests of this community always in the forefront of his mind.” The mayor also mentioned how Hinz frequently discussed books he was reading or new perspectives he had gained.

The mayor acknowledged that many will miss Hinz's calm presence and wise counsel. “I’m deeply grateful to him and to his wife Ursula for the years he offered to Green Bay and Brown County,” said Mayor Genrich. He concluded by affirming that Hinz's legacy will endure.
