Bellin Health has initiated a Community Resource Connector (CRC) program, aimed at bridging the gap between healthcare and social support services. The program began in September 2024 with six nursing students from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB) as its first cohort. Recently, two additional students from UWGB's Community Health Education joined the team for the Spring 2025 semester.

Volunteers in this program commit to a four-month service term, dedicating at least one three-hour shift per week. They also undergo over eight hours of initial and ongoing training to acquire necessary skills and knowledge. This opportunity is open to individuals aged 18 or older.

Danielle Wnek, Community Health Improvement Manager, oversees the volunteers. She stated, “the (CRC program) is making a significant, positive impact on the lives of patients by connecting them to vital resources within their local communities. CRCs play a crucial role in bridging the gap between healthcare and social support services.”

Dawn McCole, Volunteer Manager at Bellin Health, played an instrumental role in establishing the CRC program. The initiative not only supports community members but also provides students with practical experience that fulfills educational requirements.
