The Green Bay Packers have announced the release of cornerback Jaire Alexander. The decision was made public on Monday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.
"In his seven seasons with the Packers, Jaire established himself as one of the premier players in the NFL at one of the game's most challenging positions," stated Gutekunst. "His contributions to our organization were felt on the field, in the locker room and in our community, and he will be missed. We appreciate all he gave and we wish him all the best moving forward."
Alexander was originally selected by the Packers as a first-round pick (No. 18 overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft. Over seven seasons, he participated in 78 regular-season games, starting 76 of them. His record includes 302 tackles (232 solo), 12 interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), and 80 passes defensed. He also forced three fumbles, recovered two fumbles, made 12 tackles for a loss, recorded 1.5 sacks, and achieved two quarterback hits.
In postseason play, Alexander started six out of seven games and recorded three interceptions. He earned second-team All-Pro honors from The Associated Press twice (2020 and 2022) and was named to two Pro Bowls during those same years. Additionally, he was recognized on the PFWA's All-Rookie team in 2018.
