UW Organ and Tissue Donation, a federally designated organ procurement organization, annually acknowledges hospitals and staff for their efforts in maximizing organ donation. This year, Emplify Health has been honored with multiple awards for 2024.
The UW Organ and Tissue Donation Award of Hope is given to hospitals that meet or exceed goals related to organ donation. The criteria include the true conversion rate, organs transplanted per donor, and referral rate. Hospitals receive gold, silver, or bronze awards based on meeting all three, two, or one of these metrics.
The Excellence in Tissue Donation Award is presented to hospitals achieving at least a 66 percent authorization rate from families approached about organ donation. This award highlights collaboration between hospital staff and tissue banks in facilitating discussions about tissue authorization.
The Nachreiner Family Care Award recognizes one hospital annually for exceptional efforts in managing organ donation cases. Eligibility requires consistent family support practices and an outstanding case example from the previous year.
Michael Anderson, executive director of UW Organ and Tissue Donation stated: “Hospitals are essential partners in the life-saving journey of organ donation through their compassionate care for donor heroes and the exceptional support of donor families.” He commended these hospitals for honoring donors' generosity.
Dr. Scott Rathgaber, CEO of Emplify Health added: “Emplify Health’s care teams go above and beyond to educate and inform patients and families about organ donation.” Rathgaber expressed pride in their collaborative work aimed at saving lives.
