Rep. Tony Wied, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, recently used his social media platform to announce his positions on key legislative issues and opportunities within his office.

On July 17, 2025, Rep. Wied posted about his vote on digital currency legislation: "Today, I voted to pass the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act to prevent the creation of a government-run digital dollar. This would be a direct threat to economic freedom and financial privacy. House GOP will never allow that kind of federal overreach."

The following day, July 18, 2025, he shared news of another legislative action: "Yesterday, I voted in favor of the CLARITY Act. This important legislation creates a clear regulatory framework for digital assets and positions the United States as a global leader in digital currency. I was proud to work alongside my colleagues on @HouseAgGOP to get it"

Later that same day, Rep. Wied announced internship opportunities in his offices: "Our team is in search of fall interns for my District & Washington, DC offices. We are seeking hardworking individuals who are interested in learning about the inner workings of Congress. If you or anyone you know is interested, use the link below to apply."

Central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) have been debated by lawmakers and regulators over concerns related to privacy and government oversight versus innovation and modernization in financial systems. The Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act aims to block any move toward establishing a federally issued digital dollar due to fears it could undermine personal financial privacy and economic autonomy.

Meanwhile, the CLARITY Act represents an effort by Congress to establish clearer rules for digital assets—a sector that has grown rapidly but remains subject to evolving regulations both domestically and internationally.

Rep. Wied’s announcements reflect ongoing discussions within Congress regarding technological advancements in finance as well as efforts to engage constituents through educational opportunities such as internships.
