Rep. Tony Wied, a state legislator representing Northeast Wisconsin, addressed recent events and paid tribute to a local leader in two posts on his official X account.
On July 22, 2025, Wied acknowledged the passing of Darlene Marcelle, a well-known public servant in Green Bay. In his message, he stated: "Darlene Marcelle was a devoted public servant and community leader. Her contributions left an indelible mark on Northeast Wisconsin and her memory will continue to inspire us all. I offer my deepest condolences to her family, friends, and the entire Green Bay community."
The following day, July 23, 2025, Rep. Wied commented on an incident involving political violence. He wrote: "There is absolutely no place for political violence in our country, regardless of your political party. I hope the Brown County Democrat Party will strongly denounce this and ensure that this type of behavior will not be tolerated." In a subsequent post made at nearly the same time, he included only a link without additional comment: "https://t.co/yd5JcJvfGm"
Darlene Marcelle was recognized for her extensive service to Green Bay and surrounding communities through various civic initiatives over several decades. Her leadership roles contributed significantly to local programs focused on education and neighborhood development.
Political violence has been an ongoing concern across U.S. communities in recent years. Elected officials from both major parties have increasingly called for bipartisan condemnation of such acts in order to maintain civil discourse.
