The City of Green Bay’s Department of Public Works has announced a temporary adjustment to the operating schedule for the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge. The change is scheduled to take place from August 26 through August 29, 2025, as maintenance activities are carried out on the bridge located at Dousman and Main Streets.
During this period, the bridge will remain open to vehicles but will have single-lane closures in both directions along Main Street between North Broadway and North Washington Street. These lane restrictions may cause traffic delays. No official detour will be posted, but access to local residences and businesses will still be available.
"Motorists shall be advised the bridge will remain open to vehicular traffic with single-lane closures occurring during this timeframe, which may cause back-ups. Mariners shall provide a two-hour advance notice for bridge operation directly to the Bridgetender from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. Vessels able to pass under the bridge may do so at any time."
All work is dependent on weather conditions and subject to change. Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution when traveling through the area and consider using alternate routes if possible.
Vessel operators who require the drawbridge opening must give a two-hour advance notice directly to the bridgetender between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., while vessels that can clear beneath the span may continue without interruption.
