The Green Bay Packers announced a series of roster moves on Tuesday, releasing more than two dozen players as part of their preparations for the 2025 season. The changes were confirmed by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.
Among those released are running backs Israel Abanikanda and Tyrion Davis-Price, defensive linemen Deslin Alexandre and James Ester, quarterbacks Sean Clifford and Taylor Elgersma, wide receivers Mecole Hardman and Will Sheppard, and several others across various positions.
In addition to these releases, the team has signed long snapper Matt Orzech to a contract extension. Orzech has played in 84 regular-season games over five seasons in the NFL. He has handled snapping duties for all 34 contests for the Packers during the last two seasons (2023-24), after previous stints with the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Other moves include placing running back MarShawn Lloyd and center/guard Jacob Monk on injured reserve/designated for return. Defensive lineman Collin Oliver, wide receiver Christian Watson, and guard John Williams have been placed on reserve/physically unable to perform. Safety Omar Brown was also placed on injured reserve.
The team’s decisions reflect ongoing efforts to shape its roster ahead of the upcoming season.
