Rep. Tony Wied, who won his seat in 2024 by defeating Kristin Lyerly with 57.3% of the vote, recently used his social media platform to comment on community events, tax policy, and crime in the United States.

On September 6, 2025, Wied shared his participation in a local event at Notre Dame Academy, stating, "It was an honor to join my alma mater, Notre Dame Academy, for their ribbon cutting and field dedication ceremony for the new Stock Family Stadium. Let's go Tritons!"

Two days later, on September 8, he expressed support for President Trump's Working Families Tax Plan. In his post he wrote: "I'm proud to support President Trump's Working Families Tax Plan to deliver for #WI08: No Tax on Overtime. No Tax on Tips. Real savings for Wisconsin families. More money in your pockets, safer communities here in Wisconsin, and government that works for working people."

Later that day, Wied criticized media coverage of crime and highlighted public safety concerns. He posted: "You really can't distrust the mainstream media enough. An innocent woman was horrifically murdered while simply riding the train and their response is 'Republicans pounce.' We have a serious crime problem in this country, whether the media wants to admit it or not."

Wied serves as a representative from Wisconsin's 8th district after winning against Kristin Lyerly in the 2024 general election by a margin of nearly 15 percentage points.
