Rep. Tony Wied, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Wisconsin, recently shared updates on his legislative activities and expressed criticism of Democratic lawmakers in a series of social media posts.

On September 29, 2025, Wied highlighted his engagement with local agricultural leaders, writing, "I had a very productive meeting with members of the Shawano County Farm Bureau and had the opportunity to discuss the work I'm doing as a member of @HouseAgGOP to support our great Wisconsin farmers."

Later that day, Wied commented on ongoing congressional budget negotiations, stating, "REMINDER: Democrats voted for 13 clean continuing resolutions while Biden was President. The only difference now? President Trump is in office. They are willing to hold our government and the American people hostage in order to score cheap political points. It's shameful." This post reflects his view that Democrats are obstructing current efforts to pass a continuing resolution (CR) due to political motivations.

Continuing his critique on September 30, Wied referenced previous warnings by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries regarding the consequences of a government shutdown. Wied posted, "Just 8 months ago, @RepJeffries warned that if the government shuts down: -Families will be hurt -Farmers will be hurt -Small businesses will be hurt. He should take his own advice and urge Senate Dems to pass Republican's clean CR and stop holding the American people hostage."

Wied, who secured his congressional seat by defeating Kristin Lyerly in the 2024 general election with 57.3% of the vote, has positioned himself as an advocate for Wisconsin farmers and has taken an active role in legislative discussions regarding government funding.
