Of the 467 people living in Mattoon in 2019, 55 percent (257) were women and 45 percent (210) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the Green Bay Reporter.

Females 18 and over outnumbered males in the same age group by a ratio of 137-to-116. In the 65 and over age range, there were 29 females and 25 males.
