A new coronavirus vaccine clinic is opening in Green Bay.

"Right now, we’re just trying to do whatever we can to encourage people. We’re trying to remove barriers. We know, based on the census tract, that the downtown area actually doesn’t have as high a percentage of vaccinations," said Troy Streckenbach, Brown County executive, according to WBAY

The new clinic will offer Pfizer shots – first doses will be available on Oct. 1 and 8, and second doses will be available on Oct. 22 and 29, according to WBAY.

The clinic location will be at the Sophie Beaumont Building. Participants are encouraged to register ahead of time, but walk-ins will be accepted, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette

About 56.3% of eligible Wisconsin residents are fully vaccinated. Over 50% of eligible residents of Brown County are fully vaccinated, according to the Department of Human Services in Wisconsin

"Systemic barriers and social factors including access to quality health care, housing, transportation and job opportunities, often referred to as systemic racism, has exacerbated the disparate impacts of COVID-19 experienced by black, brown, Indigenous and other communities of color in Wisconsin, including disparities in vaccine rates," DHS of Wisconsin says. "Through targeted distribution and strategic outreach with community stakeholders, Wisconsin is making deliberate choices to reduce barriers to access the COVID-19 vaccine and provide much-needed relief to communities that have withstood the worst of this pandemic."
