Green Bay Packers alumni are coming together to help rebuild a Milwaukee playground.

WDJT News reports that the Packers organization recently helped to rebuild a playground in Milwaukee’s Metcalfe Park neighborhood, which was burned down in 2019 during a wave of vandalism and arson that struck the area.

"Our Green Bay Packers are Wisconsin's team both on and off the field. Thank you, @Packers for giving back to our communities and helping ensure our kids have safe places to learn, play and grow," Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers wrote in an Oct. 25 Twitter post.

Through the Packers, the NFL and alumni team members, an able-bodied crew and $50,000 were brought in to the project of building a new obstacle course in the park.

The playground and area had been more or less abandoned for about two years before the crew started working again in Mid-October with the plan to have it ready in time for Halloween, according to FOX 6 News.

"Just out here giving back to the community, helping them build a playground," Packers alum Marwin Evans told Fox 6 News. "It’s good for the community, give kids something to do during the summer. They can come out here and have fun, play around and just give them something to do."
