Event Description

Food For Thought – From Plate to Plank

During this interactive Food for Thought, you’ll receive insights into wellness for the body and mind. Overall wellness is a crucial part of a healthy workforce, and as we all know, wellness (or lack thereof) trickles into the workplace in terms of employee health and productivity.

We’ll offer a presentation on Mindfulness: Eating With Intention and Attention, with Deb Guenterberg, MS, RDN, CD, Prevea Health. That’s followed by time on the yoga mat to practice Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Amy Xiong, membership director at Western Racquet & Fitness Club.

5 to 5:30 p.m.: Guenterberg will present, citing the work of Dr. Michelle May and her website, amihungry.com and her book, “Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat.” Among other things, Guenterberg will focus on the hunger/fulness scale and a bit about three types of eaters: restrictive, overeaters and intuitive eaters.

5:30 to 6:30 p.m.: Whether you’re a newbie to yoga or a long-time practitioner, join Xiong for this session on Vinyasa Flow Yoga. This style of yoga is characterized by stringing postures together so you move from one to another; that’s where the term “flow” in the name comes from. It is one of the most popular forms of yoga in the world today, connecting one posture to the next using the breath.

This two-part event is available for $25 for members and $40 for non-members. Attendance is limited to 25 people to allow for an intimate, interactive Food for Thought.

Location: Western Racquet & Fitness Club
