The Hilly Haven Golf Course is doing all it can to support Ukrainians fighting for freedom in their homeland.

As the war in Ukraine continues to unfold, leaders at Hilly Haven recently presented area non-profit Wisconsin Ukrainians with a $33,233 donation check.

We Are Green Bay reports that the money is earmarked to help cover medical, military and humanitarian needs of Ukrainian men, women and children.

“We’re hearing on a daily basis about the humanitarian needs of the children... We are trying to make someone’s life a little bit easier by sending money over that can help them,” Wisconsin Ukraine Vice President of Olga Halaburda Hietpas said, adding the money is also slated to help Ukrainians fighting on the front lines get basic, but life-saving medical items such as bandages.

“People are being injured,” she added. “We’ve got needs such as bandages that prevent people from bleeding to death, that help facilitate blood clotting, and that are life-saving bandages."

With the money raised during the club’s Big Cup outing involving 150 golfers held at the De Pere Course on April 30, Hilly Haven officials reason there’s plenty of credit to go around. The outing also included a silent auction and a meal of Ukrainian cuisine.

“I would just like to give a shout-out to everyone that helped us raise this money,” said Hilly Haven Course General Manager Kristen Stelzer. “From the golfers that played in the event to all of the sponsors, the hole sponsors, flag, food, beverage all of them and also all of the people that took part in the silent auction.”

Back on May 14, Wisconsin Ukrainians officials held a bake sale at St. Matthew’s Orthodox Church with the proceeds going to the cause.
