Shawano Parks and Recreation: Recreation Programs & Events Coordinator

The Recreation Programs and Events Coordinator will perform a variety of planning, facilitating, and customer service-related duties.  This position is an integral part of our team and is highly consulted on important projects and programs. This person will develop and facilitate numerous recreation and community programs and events and work collaboratively with other staff and departments. 

Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Post-secondary education in the recreation, teaching, group facilitating, or communications fields are preferred.  The preferred candidate will also have 1-2 years of experience in customer service, program facilitation, teaching, or a related field.  

The Salary Range is $19.23 to $20.79 hourly depending on qualifications.

Shawano Police Department: Full-time Patrol Officer

The City of Shawano Police Department is continuously recruiting for patrol officers.

The mission of the Shawano Police Department is to protect and serve the members of the community by enforcing laws and responding to calls for service. Officers are expected to have a positive impact on community relations through meaningful citizen contacts with an emphasis on service.

The Shawano Police Department takes great pride in being progressive and looking to officers for new ideas and strategies. The police department strives to modernize and upgrade all of its equipment to ensure officers have what they need to succeed in their mission.

Patrol Officers work the Pitman work schedule (12 hours shifts with a 2-2, 3-2, 2-3 rotation). This schedule allows officers to have every other weekend off (Fri, Sat, Sun) with the longest work week being 3 days.

City of Shawano provides a generous benefits package for police officers. Newly appointed officers receive all initial duty equipment (uniforms, duty belt, ballistic vest, etc.). Additionally officers receive a generous clothing allowance. A starting sick leave bank of 360 hours, 226 available hours of time off, and minimum of 48 hours of in house training per year (not including specialized training).

For patrol officers, 144 hours of holiday pay is paid out at the beginning of December. Other benefits include longevity, and educational incentive for Associate, Bachelor, and Master Degrees.

Specialized positions available in the department include drug unit, evidence technician, dive/rescue member, school resource officer, detective, K-9 officer, field training officer, special response team (SRT) member, unified tactics instructor, arson investigator, and crime prevention officer.
