Over 6,000 injured or orphaned animals depend on the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary for rehabilitation care every year. The Sanctuary is now looking to local walkers for their support in the upcoming “Walk for Wildlife” on Saturday, September 17, 2022 to benefit these animals.
“The Walk for Wildlife is a great opportunity for everyone to share in the natural wonders that the Sanctuary holds,” said Lori Bankson of the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary. “What a great way to enjoy the outdoors while raising necessary funds for local wildlife rehabilitation! With an in person and virtual option, everyone can join the fun.”
The Walk for Wildlife is a family walk on a scenic 2.5 mile trail with live animal ambassadors, artifacts, and other information provided by volunteers. A quarter-mile paved walk is also available for strollers and wagons. All walkers receive a collector’s button and walkers may choose to purchase a long-sleeved one of a kind shirt!
Registration is at WalkWildlife.com or at Walk for Wildlife 8am until 11am with stations open until 12:30pm. This year’s mascot is the barn owl which will be at the first station. Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary will also have a big raffle with many prizes donated by local businesses and volunteers! Participants may choose to donate funds to receive extra raffle tickets and nature guides.
The Good News band will be performing during Walk for Wildlife.
At 11am Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary staff members plan to release a bird of prey back into the wild with Walk for Wildlife participants.
Registration fees for the walk are $20 for adults (13 and up), $10 for kids (5 to12), and free for kids 5 and under. For more information about the walk or to register, please call the Wildlife Sanctuary at (920) 391-3683 or visit https://www.walkwildlife.com/
