Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) has expressed his support for a $14.3 emergency aid package for Israel, which was recently passed. The aid package includes crucial assistance for Israel's Iron Dome system and funds to replenish U.S. defense stockpiles.

In a statement, Gallagher emphasized the importance of standing with Israel in the face of growing attempts to blame the country for the recent attack by Hamas. He stated, "From college campuses to international forums, there’s a growing attempt to blame Israel for Hamas’ heinous attack against them. This underscores why it’s critical we stand with Israel and ensure they have the tools, resources, and support they need to defend themselves."

Gallagher believes that delivering this assistance is a significant step towards providing Israel with the necessary means to defend itself. He also called on President Biden to take further action against Hamas and its primary sponsor, Iran. Gallagher suggested enforcing sanctions on Hamas for its use of human shields, re-freezing the $6 billion ransom payment made to Iran, and abandoning efforts to revive the Iran Nuclear Deal.

In addition to his support for the aid package, Gallagher has taken various actions to support Israel in the aftermath of the attack. He introduced the Strengthening Tools to Counter the Use of Human Shields Act, aimed at improving sanctions against terrorist organizations that use innocent civilians as human shields. This is particularly relevant as Hamas is currently using this tactic with Israeli hostages.

Gallagher also led a bipartisan letter to President Biden, signed by nearly 100 colleagues, urging specific actions to prevent Iran from accessing billions of dollars to support Hamas attacks against Israel. He has also supported the United States-Israel Future of Warfare Act, which aims to establish a research and development fund for collaborative defense projects between the two nations. Additionally, he has backed the Stop Harboring Iranian Petroleum (SHIP) Act, which imposes additional sanctions on the Iranian regime.

Furthermore, Gallagher, along with other representatives, introduced legislation to block Iran from accessing the $6 billion in funds released by the Biden Administration in September.
