Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) expressed his frustration with Congress's continued reliance on Continuing Resolutions in a recent statement. The Continuing Resolution in question would fund a portion of the government through January 19 and another portion through February 2.

Gallagher drew a parallel between Congress's actions and the movie "Groundhog Day," stating, "Just like the movie, at the current rate, Congress is on track to wake up on February 2 and find itself in a similar predicament to the one it’s in today: no closer to a fully funded government and no closer to fixing our broken appropriations process."

Highlighting the need for long-term solutions, Gallagher called for the passage of the bipartisan Preventing Government Shutdowns Act and the implementation of biennial budgeting and consolidated committee jurisdiction. He emphasized that without these reforms, Congress would continue to repeat the same fiscal failures.

In a previous op-ed co-authored with Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) in the Wall Street Journal, Gallagher outlined potential steps to address Congress's fiscal failures and reform the budget process.
