The Green Bay Packers have announced the addition of Richard Ingram to their medical staff for training camp as part of the NFL Diversity in Sports Medicine Pipeline Initiative. General Manager Brian Gutekunst made the announcement on Tuesday.

Ingram is a student at Meharry Medical College specializing in orthopedics. The Shreveport, Louisiana native played outside linebacker and strong safety at Mississippi College, where he majored in biology medical science with a minor in psychology. Ingram was also a 2022 Nth Dimensions Scholar, an education nonprofit that empowers underrepresented minorities and women to excel in medicine and eliminate health disparities.

In 2022, the NFL, together with the NFL Physicians Society (NFLPS) and the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society (PFATS), started a league-wide expansion of the NFL Diversity in Sports Medicine Pipeline Initiative. This initiative provides medical students with opportunities to complete clinical rotations with NFL club medical staff. The program aims to increase and diversify the pipeline of students interested in pursuing careers in sports medicine, thereby making a positive impact on the medical field and diversifying NFL club medical staff over time. More information on the program can be found at https://www.nfl.com/playerhealthandsafety/health-and-wellness/diversity/.
