The 19th annual Walk for Wildlife will take place on September 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with all proceeds benefiting the wildlife rehabilitation program (R-PAWS). This year's mascot is Peaches, the Salmon-Crested Cockatoo.

Over 6,500 orphaned, injured, and ill wild animals are brought to the Wildlife Sanctuary annually in need of assistance. The sanctuary relies on donations for specialized formulas and food, different caging for healing and development, medicine, enrichment, and other necessary items. Through volunteers, donations, and this fundraiser, the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary’s R-PAWS program aims to rehabilitate these animals.

“The Walk for Wildlife is a great opportunity for everyone to share in the natural wonders that the Sanctuary holds,” said Lori Bankson, Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary Curator of Animals. “It’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors while raising necessary funds for local wildlife rehabilitation! We couldn’t do it without our staff, volunteers, participants, donors, and sponsors.”

Event details include:

- Visit live animal stations while walking 2.5 miles of scenic trails.

- Meet Sanctuary animal ambassadors at each station.

- Take photos and learn about the animals from volunteers.

- Receive a collector's pin featuring Peaches' face and a long-sleeved t-shirt.

- Packet pickup on Friday, September 20 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Nature Center.

- Water filling stations available; pets should be left at home.

- Two food trucks will be present.

- Live music from the Good News Band.

- Raffles with tickets priced at $1 each or six for $5; additional raffle ticket provided with an item from the wish list.

- Participants can raise additional funds through pledges; those raising over $75 receive a free field guide.

A virtual walk option is also available. Participants can walk anytime at the Wildlife Sanctuary or anywhere in their neighborhood and still receive their shirt and Walk button.
