The Green Bay Packers signed wide receiver Cornelius Johnson to the practice squad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction on Wednesday.
Johnson, a rookie out of the University of Michigan, was originally selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the seventh round (No. 253 overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. He was released after training camp and spent a short time on the Chargers' practice squad. Johnson played in 61 games with 44 starts for the Wolverines from 2019-23, recording 138 receptions for 2,038 yards (14.8 avg.) and 14 touchdowns. He earned All-Big Ten honorable mention from the coaches in 2023 after posting a career-best 47 receptions for 604 yards (12.9 avg.) and one touchdown. Johnson will wear No. 83 for the Packers.
