Michael Roemhild of Boyceville High School in Boyceville, Wis., has been named the Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week. The announcement comes as Roemhild leads the Bulldogs to a perfect 4-0 start in his sixth year as varsity head coach.

Roemhild has overseen a significant turnaround since taking over in 2019, culminating in four consecutive winning seasons and a notable 11-1 record in 2023, along with the program's first outright Dunn-St. Croix conference title in six decades. He attributes much of this success to community involvement and a culture change within the program.

"We built this around family and that wasn't just our football players and coaches," said Roemhild. "It was people around the community that help with youth sports, work the concession stands on Friday nights, do 'Mom' meals on Thursdays where the moms are getting food ready and feeding the team. We tried to get everybody involved so they feel that they have a stake in what's going on."

Roemhild's journey began at Prairie Farm High School before transferring to Boyceville High School for his junior and senior years. After graduating from Boyceville in 2003, he attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, graduating in 2008. His coaching career started as a volunteer assistant at Boyceville in 2009, later becoming defensive coordinator from 2012-17 before accepting the head coaching position in 2019.

Reflecting on his award, Roemhild said: "This is as much their award as it is mine... It's an honor that I never thought I'd receive in my coaching career."

Roemhild's staff includes Brian Roemhild, Jamie Olson, Mark Roemhild, and Colby Dotseth. Besides coaching, he teaches language arts at Boyceville Middle School. He resides with his wife Afton and their two sons Logan and Benson.

The Packers' Coach of the Week program will recognize one high school coach each week during the 2024 season. Winners receive several items including a $1,000 donation to their school's football program from both the Green Bay Packers and NFL Foundation.

Nominations should be submitted by 10 a.m. every Monday to Jake Krueger at coachoftheweek@packers.com with relevant details about deserving candidates.
