Sal Logue, the head coach of Oconomowoc High School's varsity football team, has been honored as the Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week. Now in his fifth year leading the Raccoons, Logue has guided his team to an impressive 6-0 start this season. The team recently secured a significant homecoming victory against a conference rival and currently leads the Classic Eight conference.
The Raccoons are ranked fourth among Division 1 programs in Wisconsin by Wissports.net. Coach Logue attributes their success to hard work and dedication over recent years. "We've really been knocking on the door the last couple years," said Logue. "Through the work ethic of the kids, we've made our way to breaking through."
Logue emphasizes community involvement within his program, highlighting volunteer efforts such as working at local food pantries and supporting youth football events. "We've just put a huge emphasis on giving back because a lot of people are out to support us on Friday nights," he explained.
Born in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Logue graduated from Menomonee Falls High School before playing college football at Carroll University. His coaching career began in 2004 at Menomonee Falls High School and included stints at Brookfield Central and Arrowhead High Schools before joining Oconomowoc.
Despite being named Coach of the Week, Logue views it as a collective achievement for his team. "At the end of the day it's a team award," he said.
Logue oversees a program involving 135 players with around 60 participating in varsity games. He is supported by assistant coaches including Mike Feuerstahler and Brent Reierson among others. Besides coaching, Logue teaches at Oconomowoc High School and lives with his wife Jolene and their two children.
The Green Bay Packers will recognize one high school coach each week during the 2024 season with awards that include a $1,000 donation to their school's football program from both the Packers and NFL Foundation.
Nominations for future Coach of the Week awards can be submitted via email to Jake Krueger by Monday mornings.
