The Green Bay Packers have announced Chris Greisen of West De Pere High School in De Pere, Wisconsin, as the recipient of their High School Coach of the Week award. This recognition comes during Greisen's fifth year as the varsity head coach, with his team, the Phantoms, achieving a 7-1 record and clinching a share of the FRCC-North title.

Coach Greisen attributes the team's success to a strong program culture focused on "grit." He explained that this culture was developed with input from a leadership council composed of players. "A number of years ago, we refocused our culture. We wanted to be a football team that had some grit," said Greisen. The acronym G.R.I.T stands for grind, responsibility, intensity, and trust—key values that guide the team's approach both on and off the field.

Beyond football achievements, Greisen emphasizes community involvement and serving as role models for local youth. "We believe very strongly in representing our community in a very good light," he stated. The program includes initiatives like hosting an annual football camp for children at Syble Hopp School.

Greisen's background includes playing quarterback at Northwest Missouri State University and being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 1999. His coaching career began in 2003 before he took over at West De Pere in 2020.

Upon receiving the award, Greisen expressed humility and gratitude towards his team and community: "It's a humbling honor," he said. He acknowledged it as a collective achievement involving coaches, players, and supporters.

The Green Bay Packers' High School Coach of the Week program recognizes outstanding high school coaches throughout the season with various awards including a $1,000 donation to their school's football program.

Nominations for future recipients can be submitted to Jake Krueger by email each Monday morning.
