The Green Bay Packers are encouraging middle school students in Wisconsin to engage in community service through the Character Playbook Community Impact Project. Now in its fifth year, the initiative invites students to create projects that benefit their schools or communities.
Students interested in participating must submit proposals by November 1 via the Packers' online form. These projects should be developed under the guidance of a Wisconsin school or nonprofit organization and aim to address specific needs within their local areas.
Selected applicants will have the chance to present their project ideas to representatives from the Green Bay Packers and Character Playbook. Approved proposals may receive grants of up to $500, funded by the NFL Volunteerism Grant, to support project implementation.
Suggested project ideas include refurbishing common areas, creating welcome kits for refugees or immigrants, organizing neighborhood beautification efforts, establishing community gardens with produce donations, or developing online programs for student interaction with younger peers or senior centers.
Schools and nonprofits involved will appoint a project supervisor responsible for guiding students and maintaining communication with the Packers. Presentations for selected groups are scheduled for November 20-22, with grant recipients announced by December 2. Projects should be completed by the end of the academic year.
