The Green Bay Packers' nominee, Mariano Talamantez, has advanced to the finalist stage for the 2024 NFL Latino Youth Honors. This program is presented by the NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) and aims to recognize outstanding Latino high school football players.
Each of the 32 NFL clubs was invited to select a male and female high school senior football player for consideration in this year's honors. The program celebrates athletes who excel both academically and athletically. Out of 59 nominees, eight finalists were chosen, representing each of the NFL's divisions.
Talamantez, a senior at St. Catherine's High School in Racine, Wisconsin, stands out as an All-State linebacker and a two-time team captain. He has been named Metro Classic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and is a state champion. Academically, he maintains a 3.72 GPA while engaging actively with his community and embracing his Mexican heritage.
The finalists will receive grants toward college education and participate in events during Super Bowl LIX Week in New Orleans. These activities are intended to offer mentorship and resources for careers in professional sports. The male and female national winners will be announced during NFL Honors presented by Invisalign, coinciding with Super Bowl week.
Marissa Solis, NFL Senior VP/Global Brand & Consumer Marketing, commented on the partnership with HHF: "We're excited to once again work with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation for this year's NFL Latino Youth Honors, highlighting the incredible achievements of Latino student-athletes whose stories will inspire future generations of fans and players alike."
The Hispanic Heritage Foundation was established by the White House in 1987 as a nonprofit organization. It aims to inspire minority leaders across various sectors through education, cultural pride promotion, and public awareness campaigns.
