The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is preparing to celebrate its 2024 Winter Commencement on December 14, with a focus on encouraging graduates to "lead with purpose." A total of 497 students will receive degrees in fields such as business, environmental sciences, psychology, nursing, engineering, and education. The event will take place at The Weidner and includes two ceremonies.
Chancellor Michael Alexander expressed pride in the graduates' readiness to impact the community and workforce positively. "It’s an honor to celebrate the winter graduating class who are prepared to lead with purpose and determination to make a positive impact on our community and in our workforce," he said. "I know that our graduates will fearlessly face challenges and solve problems to ensure the vibrancy of Northeast Wisconsin."
The morning ceremony at 9:30 a.m. will feature graduates from the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences; College of Health, Education & Social Welfare; and all associate degree programs from UW-Green Bay's four campuses. Brady Reinhard, a student speaker for the morning session, will share his journey from overcoming shyness to facing personal challenges during his college years.
Adam Procell, co-founder of Paradigm Shyft, is set to address the morning graduates. Procell's background includes renouncing gang affiliation while incarcerated and working on strategic reentry consulting after his release.
In the afternoon ceremony at 2 p.m., Robert B. Atwell will speak. Atwell is known for his role as founding chair and CEO of Nicolet Bankshares. His career highlights include growing Nicolet into one of Wisconsin's largest banking institutions.
The university has been hosting commencement ceremonies since June 1970 and continues to support over 50,000 alumni globally.
