The Green Bay Packers and the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation have announced the eighth annual Give BIG Green Bay event, a 24-hour giving day set to take place from noon on February 19 to noon on February 20. The initiative aims to support 50 participating nonprofits through donations from the community.
Participants can visit givebiggreenbay.org during the event to learn about the organizations involved and contribute at any level. This year, the Green Bay Packers Foundation will provide a $250,000 grant as a matching pool of funds to enhance contributions. In last year's event, over $3 million was raised in just one day with the help of 5,618 donors.
"The Packers are proud to support Give BIG Green Bay and the nonprofit organizations that will benefit, thanks to generous donors," stated Mark Murphy, President/CEO of the Packers. "As a publicly owned franchise, we know firsthand the importance of community support."
The selected nonprofits represent diverse areas including animal welfare, arts and culture, education, environment and conservation, health and wellness, human services, hunger and housing, military and public safety, recreation and sports, as well as youth development. Of these organizations this year, 32% are participating for their first time.
Dennis Buehler of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation highlighted the significance of local giving: "Give BIG Green Bay is about amplifying the critical work of our nonprofits."
This year introduces the Mark Murphy Give BIG Green Bay Spirit Award in honor of Murphy's commitment to fostering generosity within Brown County. This award will be voted on by participating nonprofits annually.
