The late John Brosig of Pound, Wisconsin, has been posthumously named the 27th member of the Green Bay Packers FAN Hall of Fame. This announcement was made on Monday following a voting process where fans chose from ten finalists. The voting took place from January 1 to January 31 on packers.com, gathering over 70,000 votes from across the United States and internationally.
Brosig passed away on December 28, 2024, shortly after being named a finalist for the honor. His family included this achievement in his obituary at his request. His son, Max Brosig, accepted the award during the announcement ceremony.
John Brosig was a dedicated Packers fan who became a season ticket holder in 1962. For more than six decades, he attended every game at Lambeau Field that was part of his ticket package. He often shared stories about attending historic games like the Ice Bowl in 1967 and traveled with his wife Diane to watch games at 29 different NFL stadiums. Known for his generosity and love for football, Brosig frequently hosted tailgates for family members, friends, veterans, and even fans from opposing teams.
Brosig's family nominated him for the Hall of Fame and highlighted his deep connection to the team in their nomination essay. They shared details about his battle with cancer: "Unfortunately, Dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer in June 2024. When asked what goals he would like to set, the first goal was to attend the [2024] home opener so he would not break his streak and start year number 60! We made that happen for him. Dad went as far as to push chemotherapy treatment until after the game."
This year's other finalists were Regan Bucholz from Bonduel, Wisconsin; Lori Coonen from Combined Locks, Wisconsin; Paul Gasper from Onalaska, Wisconsin; Ken Groholski from Manawa, Wisconsin; Tammy Hedges from Weston, Florida; Michael Rossi from Hackettstown, New Jersey; Scott Schwartz from Pulaski, Wisconsin; Valerie Smick from Yorkville, Illinois; and Bill Port from New Berlin., Wisconsin.
In recognition of John's selection into the FAN Hall of Fame, Brosig's family will receive four club seats to a Packers home game in 2025 along with pre-game sideline passes and access to other perks including passes to the Packers Hall of Fame and a custom jersey.
Brosig’s name will also be permanently displayed in a place of honor within the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.
The Packers FAN Hall of Fame was established by the Green Bay Packers in 1998 to annually honor devoted long-time fans. Past honorees include individuals such as Mel Knoke from Appleton and Louis Gardipee from Black River Falls among others.
