The Green Bay Packers and UScellular have awarded Leopold Elementary School a $20,000 grant for technology upgrades aimed at enhancing STEM education. The school, located in Fitchburg, was surprised with the donation as part of the Leap for Learning program. Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jared Abbrederis visited the school during the announcement.
"We're honored to once again partner with UScellular and award Leopold Elementary School with this much-deserved technology upgrade. Through the Leap for Learning program, we're working to ensure students across Wisconsin have the tools and support they need to succeed," stated Craig Benzel, Vice President of Sales and Business Development for the Packers.
The Leap for Learning program was launched by UScellular and the Green Bay Packers in 2023. It invited administrators and parents from across Wisconsin to nominate K-12 schools for a chance to receive a technology makeover. A panel of judges reviewed all nominations before selecting one winner.
"Leopold Elementary is incredibly grateful to UScellular and the Green Bay Packers for selecting us as the recipient of this year's Leap for Learning award and donation. This generous $20,000 contribution will have a lasting impact on our students, helping them reach new academic milestones and enhancing their educational experience," expressed Kim O'Donahue, assistant principal of Leopold Elementary School.
The $20,000 donation was presented during a surprise assembly attended by Leopold Elementary students on Wednesday.
"Access to technology is essential for students to thrive, which is why we're thrilled to support Leopold Elementary with this donation," said Christine Paulsen, director of sales for UScellular in Wisconsin. "At UScellular, we are committed to empowering the next generation by investing in STEM education and our partnership with Leap for Learning helps bring those opportunities to more students across the state."
