As part of the inaugural 'Taste of the Draft' event linked to the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin schools are being encouraged to apply for a Taste of the Draft School Nutrition Grant. These grants aim to improve student access to nutritious school meals that include milk, fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein.
The grants will supply meal distribution equipment to up to 90 schools statewide in honor of the 90th NFL Draft. Schools selected will have the option to choose from three specialized equipment packages tailored to their specific needs, enhancing students' access to healthy meals during school hours.
Schools interested in applying can do so until March 4 at tasteofdraft.genyouthnow.org.
Scheduled for April 23 at Schreiber Foods headquarters in downtown Green Bay, Taste of the Draft will highlight Wisconsin cuisine and culinary traditions. Attendees will enjoy a variety of foods and beverages typical of Wisconsin supper clubs. The event also offers opportunities to interact with Green Bay Packers players and NFL legends while featuring renowned chefs like Andrew Zimmern, Mark Bucher, and Paul Bartolotta.
Proceeds from Taste of the Draft will support GENYOUth's initiatives against student hunger in collaboration with Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin. Nearly half of Wisconsin students qualify for free or reduced-price school meals due to household income levels, with one in six children experiencing food insecurity.
This marks the first event associated with the NFL Draft modeled after the Taste of the NFL held annually during Super Bowl weekend. More information is available at tasteofthenfl.com/taste-of-the-draft-2025.
