The city of Green Bay has announced the launch of "Operation Beep Beep," a fire safety initiative by the Green Bay Metro Fire Department. This program is focused on providing and installing smoke alarms for residents in need. The announcement was made via a press release on March 6, 2025.

According to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, "Operation Beep Beep" aims to provide and install free smoke alarms in homes across Green Bay, Allouez, and Bellevue. The initiative is funded by a $29,880 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The program seeks to reduce fire-related fatalities, as nearly 60% of such deaths occur in homes without functional smoke alarms. It also aims to improve safety ahead of the upcoming Draft, benefiting both residents and visitors.

The department serves the City of Green Bay, Village of Allouez, and Village of Bellevue following mergers with the Allouez and Bellevue Fire Departments in 2012 and 2021, respectively. Its mission includes protecting and educating the community while maintaining compassion and tradition within fire service. The department strives to be a model organization through leadership and innovation. It provides resources on its administration, history, fallen firefighters, annual reports, and budget details. There are nine fire stations across the area.

Green Bay is located in northeastern Wisconsin with a population of 107,395. According to city officials, its economy is driven by industries such as agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, and transportation. The city boasts a multi-modal transportation network that includes Metro Transit services, highways, Austin Straubel International Airport, and the Port of Green Bay. Housing options are diverse with nearly full occupancy in both affordable and market-rate housing sectors. Additionally, Green Bay offers 70 parks and trails along with cultural venues like theaters and museums. Development efforts are supported through public-private partnerships facilitated by tax increment districts and various grant programs.
