The City of Green Bay is launching the City Hall Academy for 2025, an initiative meant to educate residents and local business owners about the workings of municipal government. This eight-week program aims to provide participants with insights into city services and operations. It also includes sessions with city officials, department directors, and staff, allowing attendees a closer look at various departments including public safety, parks and recreation, community development, and more.
"The City Hall Academy is a vital program that strengthens the bond between our residents and their local government," stated Mayor Eric Genrich. "By providing an inside look at the workings of City Hall, we empower residents to become more informed and engaged citizens, fostering a stronger, more collaborative community. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this incredible opportunity.”
Set to commence on May 1, 2025, the program will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Participants must attend at least six of the eight sessions and one City Council or Committee meeting to graduate. While there is no registration fee, those interested must register, with priority given to first-timers.
The program offers several benefits, including a deeper understanding of city government operations, exposure to presentations and hands-on activities, and insights into decision-making processes. The City Hall Academy also emphasizes the role of citizens in municipal decision-making.
Individuals interested in participating should register early due to limited space. More information can be found on the Green Bay city website or by contacting Kerry Yang, Community Liaison & Special Events Coordinator.
